Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about the Dimensional Literacy Program

About the Framework

What is the Dimensional Literacy Program?

+

The Dimensional Literacy Program (DLP) is a comprehensive educational framework that organizes human knowledge through 8 fundamental dimensions (pillars) and 5 progressive learning levels. It integrates 312 carefully mapped concepts to create a unified understanding of reality—from quantum physics to consciousness, from wonder to practical mastery.

Think of it as a "map of knowledge" that shows how everything connects.

Why "Dimensional" Literacy?

+

We use "dimensional" because each pillar represents a fundamental dimension through which we can understand reality:

  • Scale - the dimension of size and context
  • Emergence - the dimension of complexity arising
  • Systems - the dimension of interconnection
  • Energy - the dimension of transformation
  • Uncertainty - the dimension of what's knowable
  • Information - the dimension of processing
  • Time - the dimension of change
  • Consciousness - the dimension of experience

Together, these 8 dimensions provide a complete framework for understanding anything.

Who created this framework?

+

The DLP was created by Alethe, Levi, and Hexad in 2025 after extensive research, iteration, and validation. The framework integrates insights from multiple disciplines including physics, biology, computer science, psychology, philosophy, mathematics, and systems thinking.

Why 8 pillars specifically?

+

Through careful analysis, we identified 8 fundamental ways humans understand reality:

  1. Where/size (Scale)
  2. How complexity arises (Emergence)
  3. How things connect (Systems)
  4. What drives change (Energy)
  5. What we can know (Uncertainty)
  6. How reality processes (Information)
  7. How/why things change (Time)
  8. Who experiences it (Consciousness)

These 8 dimensions are comprehensive—everything can be understood through at least one (usually multiple) of these lenses.

How is this different from traditional education?

+

Traditional Education:

  • Siloed subjects (math separate from biology separate from psychology)
  • Theory-first approach (abstract before concrete)
  • One-size-fits-all progression
  • Minimal connection between topics

DLP:

  • Integrated framework (500+ cross-pillar connections)
  • Wonder-first approach (L0 starts with awe)
  • Progressive accessibility (everyone can start, go as deep as desired)
  • Explicit connections everywhere

For Learners

Who is this for?

+

DLP works for:

  • Students (middle school through graduate school)
  • Professionals (career development, strategic thinking)
  • Lifelong learners (curious adults)
  • Educators (teaching framework)
  • Anyone seeking deeper, integrated understanding

Accessible entry point (L0) for ages 8+, unlimited depth for advanced learners.

How do I start?

+

Recommended Path:

  1. Explore the interactive framework - Get overview of all 8 pillars
  2. Choose a pillar that interests you most
  3. Start with L0 (Wonder) - Experience the spectacular phenomena
  4. Progress to L1 (Intuition) - Build foundational understanding
  5. Branch to other pillars - Follow connections and curiosity
  6. Return for L2-L4 - Deepen understanding when ready

No prerequisites needed. Start wherever sparks your curiosity.

Do I need to complete one pillar before starting another?

+

No! The framework is designed for flexible exploration:

  • Follow your interests across pillars
  • Jump between levels as connections appear
  • Return to earlier concepts with new understanding
  • Create your own learning path

However, within each pillar, following L0→L1→L2→L3→L4 order is recommended for best comprehension.

How long does it take to "complete" the framework?

+

There's no fixed timeline—it depends on your starting knowledge, depth goals, and time investment.

Rough estimates:

  • L0-L1 across all pillars: 3-6 months (casual pace)
  • L2 across all pillars: Additional 6-12 months
  • L3 (deep theory): 12-24 months
  • L4 (practical mastery): Ongoing practice

But remember: This is a lifelong framework. You're never "done"—understanding deepens continuously.

For Educators

How can I use DLP in my classroom?

+

Integration Approaches:

1. Organizing Framework

  • Structure entire course around relevant pillars
  • Show how your subject connects to other dimensions
  • Use cross-pillar connections to deepen understanding

2. Supplementary Material

  • Start units with L0 wonder (hook students)
  • Use pillar concepts to explain difficult topics
  • Reference framework for "big picture" context

3. Interdisciplinary Projects

  • Have students explore topics through multiple pillars
  • Build projects that span several dimensions
  • Foster transfer and synthesis skills

Example: Teaching climate change through 5 pillars (Scale, Systems, Energy, Time, Uncertainty)
